The Management of Mayglothling Waste is committed to the continuing improvement of their Health & Safety arrangements and ensuring, so far as is reasonable and practicable, the health and safety of all their employees. These measures are fully in accordance with the requirements of OHSAS18001, the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, the current COSHH regulations and will also be aimed at protecting others who may be affected by the company’s activity.
The overall responsibility for the implementation of this policy shall rest with the Production Director who will ensure that supervisory personnel are made aware of their responsibility for Health and Safety matters and for encouraging all other employees to accept their individual responsibilities for the Health and Safety of themselves and their colleagues.
In accordance with the Environmental Management Systems Manual Section 4.4.2: when joining the company all employees of Mayglothling Waste shall receive induction training and thereafter in-house on-the-job training to the level of competency necessary for the tasks they are required to complete. A significant portion of this training shall involve Health and Safety matters.
Periodically as part of the Management Review (See the Combined QMS – EMS – H&S Review Agenda Appendix to QMS Operating procedure 04), matters of concern regarding the Health and Safety of the company’s operations shall be discussed and records containing details of concerns, proposals, corrective actions and the success of actions shall remain on file.
In accordance with the requirements of RIDDOR a record shall be maintained of all Health & Safety issues including accidents, near misses & reportable accidents.
Health and Safety law places the blame for failure equally on employer and employee and therefore to achieve the aims laid out in this policy the company recognises that the co-operation of all employees is vital. It must therefore be stated that any significant infringement of the instructions and procedures laid out in the H&S Manual may result in instant dismissal.
